Trials & Innovation Technologist

Flamingo Flowers is seeking to appoint a Trials & Innovation Technologist to take responsibility for the development and delivery of innovation trials across new science-based products, processes, and varieties.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting technical innovation, providing data-driven insights, and making recommendations to enhance product quality, performance, and commercial outcomes across the business.

Responsibilities

Innovation, Trials and Technical Development
Lead and coordinate innovation trials from design through to completion
Develop and implement trial protocols to assess new products, processes, and varieties
Coordinate materials sourcing and undertake routine and trial vase life assessments
Analyse trial data and produce detailed reports and presentations
Identify opportunities to deliver business benefit through innovation and technical development
Make recommendations for further activity or commercial implementation
Project Management and Delivery
Manage assigned projects effectively, ensuring delivery within agreed timescales
Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to maximise trial capacity and outcomes
Monitor trial-related costs and support cost control in conjunction with the Head of Technical
Contribute to projects that deliver measurable business benefits through knowledge or application
Stakeholder Engagement
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, including Technical, Commercial, NPD, Packaging, Operations, Quality, and Vase Life departments
Liaise with global teams to ensure alignment and effective execution of trials
Build and maintain relationships with external researchers and industry bodies
Coordinate and support technicians and relevant stakeholders involved in trials
Data, Reporting and Administration
Produce KPI reports and updates for internal management reporting
Maintain accurate and up-to-date trial documentation, protocols, and innovation trackers
Ensure all trial paperwork is completed clearly and in a timely manner
Standards, Compliance and Continuous Improvement
Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with Health & Safety, Food Safety, Quality, Ethical, and Environmental standards
Maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping within trial environments
Support lean initiatives, continuous improvement, and waste minimisation
Report any health and safety concerns or equipment faults promptly

Essential:

Strong communication and organisational skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to analyse data and produce clear, concise reports
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
Numerate and literate
