This is an exciting opportunity to work within one of the UK’s leading flower businesses, helping to create and prepare high-quality floral products for customers nationwide. About the Role As a General Operative, you will play an important role in ensuring products are packed to specification, quality standards are maintained, and production targets are achieved safely and efficiently. You will work as part of a supportive team in a busy production environment. Key Responsibilities Packing bouquets and floral products to customer specifications Ensuring product quality, presentation, and correct labelling Maintaining hygiene and housekeeping standards Supporting line efficiency and reducing waste Reporting any quality or production issues to supervisors Operating equipment safely, including guillotines when required Following company procedures, SOPs, and Health & Safety policies Assisting with stock movement, table supply, and waste segregation Supporting team members and helping train new operatives where required What We’re Looking For Good level of English, numeracy, and literacy Ability to work well as part of a team Flexible, proactive, and reliable attitude Strong attention to detail and quality Good communication and problem-solving skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Previous experience in bouquet making or flower handling is beneficial but not essential Desirable Skills Bouquet wrapping and spiralling experience Knowledge of flower quality standards Experience working to production targets Understanding of hygiene and food safety standards What We Offer Full training provided Supportive team environment Opportunities to develop skills and grow within the business Fast-paced and rewarding workplace If you are motivated, enthusiastic, and ready to be part of a successful team, we would love to hear from you. To be hands on and co-ordinate activities and requirements of the nursery packhouse through acting as the 1st point of contact and liaison for Nursery Operatives and Senior Management. To ensure that all materials and equipment are available to support the production needs daily whilst ensuring the business works in an efficient way, enabling it to deliver on customer demands both internally and externally. Ensure that the quality of all products generated by the lines meets the customer and in house standards. Be responsible for line output, including appearance, spread, trim, head, stem level and correct packaging / hardware. Ensure products are stored correctly during productive / non-productive times. Engage in audits, visits and finished product inspections. Work closely with the quality / technical team to create a proactive approach to product quality To highlight and progress stock and raw material issues ensuring that lines are kept running. To act as first point of contact for the planning, technical, stock control, other areas of production, engineering and management to ensure that process coordination is maintained throughout the factory. To work as part of the team assisting in all nursery duties potting, spacing, pinching and packing, to ensure a high-quality product is delivered to our customer whilst ensuring product quality, safety and legality are maintained. To inform Team Leader/Area Leader of any quality issues which affect the quality of the product. To take action against poor practices. Help develop Lean and CI processes in the area. Report any quality concerns to Team Leader/Area Leader. To ensure all products are prepared, checked and packed to the required specification. Ensure lines are loaded with product and packaging. To ensure that completed trays are collated on to pallets ready for despatch. To inform Team Leader/Area Leader of any quality issues which affect the quality of the product. To follow and ensure others follow correct procedures in place to prevent damage. To ensure all products are packed in line with the current product specification, including product quality, labelling, packaging and boxes or any agreed variance as instructed by the quality team Report any concerns to your Team Leader or QC. To minimise the level of rework through the Right First Time approach. Putting any product, you are in doubt about on hold until outcome is resolved.
