Reporting To: UK Health &amp; Safety Manager
Job Purpose
The Health and Safety Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the effective delivery of Flamingo’s health and safety strategy at the Stevenage site. Working under the UK Health &amp; Safety Manager and as part of the wider Flamingo UK Health &amp; Safety Team, the role ensures legal compliance, supports risk reduction, and drives continuous improvement in health and safety performance.
The Health and Safety Coordinator will work closely with operational teams to embed safe working practices, promote employee engagement and contribute to the development of a strong, proactive safety culture across the site and wider business.
Team Structure &amp; Collaboration
As part of the Flamingo UK Health &amp; Safety Team, the role will work collaboratively with:
UK Health &amp; Safety Manager (Lead)
Flamingo Flowers, Sandy – Health &amp; Safety Coordinator
Flamingo Flowers &amp; Plants, Weston – Health &amp; Safety Coordinator
Key Responsibilities:
Health &amp; Safety Culture - Promote and support a positive health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements. 
Safety Systems &amp; Compliance - Support the maintenance and ongoing development of the UK SHE Management System.  
Accident &amp; Incident Reduction - Investigate accidents, near misses and unsafe acts, ensuring appropriate corrective and preventative actions are implemented
Training &amp; Development - Coordinate health and safety training, inductions and refresher programmes
Site-Specific Safety &amp; Contractor Management - Coordinate site-based safety improvement initiatives across operational areas
Cross-Site Collaboration &amp; Teamwork - Participate in joint Health &amp; Safety meetings with Sandy and Weston sites
Experience, Knowledge &amp; Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Health &amp; Safety role, ideally within a manufacturing or operational environment
NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
Proven experience developing, implementing, and reviewing risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work (SSOWs)
Experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventative actions
Competent in the use of health and safety management systems, including accurate record keeping and reporting

Job Purpose
To lead the engineering function at the Sandy site by managing a team of engineers and ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of all plant, equipment and facilities. The role is responsible for driving engineering performance, improving asset reliability, supporting operational efficiency and delivering continuous improvement while remaining hands-on when required.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach and develop the site engineering team.
Ensure planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities are delivered effectively to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
Drive engineering KPIs, asset performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
Work closely with Operations to prioritise workloads, improve production efficiency and maintain product quality.
Manage the engineering operating budget and support capital investment planning.
Support the sourcing, installation and commissioning of new equipment and engineering projects.
Identify and implement engineering improvements to reduce costs, improve reliability and increase operational efficiency.
Develop preventative maintenance strategies and promote autonomous maintenance.
Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors and suppliers.
Ensure engineering records, maintenance systems and documentation are maintained accurately.
Provide engineering support to meet changing business requirements.
Health, Safety &amp; Compliance
Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture.
Ensure engineering activities comply with all legal, food safety, quality, environmental and company standards.
Work with the HSE Manager to maintain Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work and contractor controls.
Provide engineering input into machinery modifications and projects in line with CDM Regulations.
Person Specification
Essential
Experience in an engineering or maintenance leadership role.
Recognised Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering qualification.
Experience within FMCG, manufacturing or another fast-paced production environment.
Proven experience leading and developing engineering teams.
Strong knowledge of planned preventative maintenance and continuous improvement.
Excellent problem-solving, communication and organisational skills.
Ability to manage budgets, priorities and engineering projects.
Desirable
Electrical qualification.
Experience delivering capital projects and equipment installations.
Knowledge of CMMS and engineering KPI reporting.
